The President Calls Relatives of Shot Guard Personnel to the White House

Information on the Heartbreaking Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both members of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told the press. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Reaction

Mourners gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to aid law enforcement in the capital.

“Sarah was the individual that instructors wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” he addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
