Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to contact the relevant police force.
