Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
