Adult Swim's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.
During the fall season, Adult Swim welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the network launched a fresh animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. In an era often characterized by cynicism, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and helped it become a breakout hit.
A Significant Investment
On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.
"I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."
Executive Acclaim
In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and championed its peculiarly charming sensibility.
"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family go about their daily lives.
At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to evolve comedy past its prevailing sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts.
โIt feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,โ explained Cappa. โIt feels as if we have to know weโre the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.โ
